Meet Our Leadership

From Principal Greenwell

Dear parents, guardians, students, and other members of the ram community,

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year and the North Thurston High School website! My name is Nick Greenwell, and it is an honor and privilege for me to enter my eighth year as the principal of North Thurston High School. We focus on making sure that every student that walks in our doors has the tools and information necessary to graduate prepared to attend college, enter the military or join the work force. Forming positive student/staff relationships is foundational to making this possible. I truly believe that you will not find a better staff in the state.

North Thurston High School was established in 1954, remodeled first in 1983, most recently remodeled in 2021. We enjoy state-of-the-art classrooms, a new gymnasium with a new auxiliary gym, and a new and vastly improved library. We have a great facility for student learning at NTHS, and we are excited about the opportunities this provides for our students. Thank you for the support you have provided to our students and staff by passing our levies and bonds.

Our district theme for the 2024-25 school year is Joy of Learning. In the words of Superintendent Troy Oliver:

Learning should be rigorous and challenging. It should also be joyful—that excitement when a student masters a math concept or explores a new art form. In addition to our strong core instruction, we offer many opportunities for students to explore interests from music to world languages to career and technical education classes. We also offer various clubs and activities to support students in developing their interests.

Meaningful learning opportunities foster curiosity and a Joy of Learning while developing academic and social skills to meet high standards.

North Thurston takes pride in being a comprehensive high school, a place where all students can learn, be involved, and prepare themselves for a rewarding future. In addition to our outstanding core classes, we are fortunate to have outstanding arts programs, career and technical education (CTE) courses, a wide variety of world language offerings, College in the High School offerings, and more. Our students have access to a wide variety of challenging course offerings that allow them to grow academically.

In addition to our wonderful students and staff, North Thurston also benefits greatly from very involved families and alumni, as well as other community partners. Truly excellent schools require strong partnerships, and we have that here at North Thurston. Please do not hesitate to call if I can be of service to you in any way.

Thank you and, as always, GO RAMS!
